Breakfast was easily the best part, and the host was welcoming. The room had a double bed and a single, but the single mattress was old foam and felt like sleeping on stone. There was no mosquito coil, a cockroach in the bathroom, a broken toilet seat, and no soap or shampoo. For the airport, you can find a cab outside for €20 instead of paying the hotel's €50.

The small pool was lovely for a refreshing dip in the day or a relaxing, romantic swim in the evening. The garden isn't very big, but it's a calming spot, and the place has lots of color. We stayed at Baobab Belge in August on our Senegal trip and had a great time. Dominique, the owner, has a one of a kind warmth and energy, and made us feel right at home. I'd highly recommend it! Evelien, the hostess, was the one bright spot: always friendly and attentive. After only five days, we packed up and moved to much better places, and we won't be coming back. We'd stayed at Baobab Belge before, and the upkeep has somehow gotten worse, despite the owner's promise that everything would be fine on our next holiday. The shower was dirty, the toilet needed buckets of water to flush, and the only lights were nightlights. A faucet kept leaking and couldn't be shut off, which was especially annoying at night. The cleaner spent over two hours in the room after three days, yet that evening we found there weren't even clean sheets on the bed. In a B&B, the owners should be there instead of blaming the local staff for their own shortcomings. Such a shame.
