Boom Apartments

The rooms were comfortable and well equipped, the location was excellent, the street was quiet with beautiful old trees, and the building looked modern. The pub nearby also served first-rate food, and the other staff were friendly. It’s a shame about the caretaker. I don’t think he meant to be rude, but he wasn’t good with people or hosting, a bit like Sheldon from Big Bang Theory. After a long bus ride into Parbo, we couldn’t get anyone’s attention. A note on the door told us to call, but we had no phone or Wi-Fi connection in a new country, and there were no public phones. Thankfully, neighbors helped us reach the caretaker. When he arrived, he muttered that nobody had told him we were coming, even though I’d included our arrival time in the booking notes. I asked if we could leave our luggage on our departure day, three days later, because our flight was at midnight. He promptly said no. I explained that hotels often help guests this way and that a little assistance would mean a lot, even in an apartment. He reluctantly agreed to keep our bags until about 5 p.m. The next day, he suggested we pay for an extra night so he could hold them until 10 p.m.

It was comfortable.

We had a really pleasant three-night stay. It was quiet and well located, and the price was excellent for what we got. Highly recommended.

The management was easy to reach by phone or WhatsApp and very helpful with any questions. The apartments are on a lovely, charming street within walking distance of the city center, a peaceful spot in hot, busy Paramaribo. We stayed at Boom Apartments twice in September 2017 and had a fantastic time. The apartments are clean, tastefully furnished, fully equipped, modern, and full of natural light.
