The view from our riverside room was lovely, but noise was an issue: cars and loud music carried on until 4 a.m. on two of the three nights we stayed. Staff were very welcoming and accommodating. The guesthouse is in an old colonial house in the city centre, overlooking the Surinam river. Our room had air conditioning and a private bathroom with a warm shower in a cabin. Breakfast was simple but nice, and a chef cooked eggs just the way you asked.

There's an ancient atmosphere to this small hotel, and it's close to downtown Paramaribo for a good price. Since it sits on the boulevard, Waterkant, along the Surinam river, weekends can be a bit noisy. The staff are very friendly, and we got a "Warme Brassie" (warm embrace) when checking out. I'd happily return anytime.
