Eco Suites El Zonte

This is a great value hotel right on the beach. I especially liked having two pools, foosball tables, hammocks everywhere, clean rooms, and a made-to-order breakfast that was excellent. The shower water had an unpleasant metallic smell. It might just be how the water is in this town, rather than something specific to the hotel. Check-in was fine. They gave me a phone to contact them on WhatsApp for room service or housekeeping, which is a nice idea, but I wasn’t going to carry two phones, so it stayed in the room.

Both pools were lovely, though we spent more time at the infinity pool. The pool being open around the clock was a nice surprise, so you can swim in the middle of the night if you feel like it. The rooms were clean and the service was good. They also offer massages, car rentals, laundry, and other facilities. I would have liked more kinds of fresh fruit for juices and fruit platters, but otherwise I had no complaints. Would recommend!

The container could use some renovation, which is a bit of a shame for a hotel. Still, the concept is great, the service was excellent, and the location was perfect. Breakfast was included and very good. And that infinity pool looking out over the beach was simply wow 🤩

The container was comfortable, but small, and there wasn’t much space for belongings. Some shelves, little tables, or hooks would help. I also wish there were more loungers around the pool. The WiFi barely worked, so I relied on my LTE data for the whole stay. I don’t understand the hotel’s “eco” label either. I saw plastic straws, bottled water for sale instead of a guest water dispenser, and plastic wristbands rather than reusable ones. The pool and beachfront setting were perfect, right in front of the surf spot. Breakfast restaurant service was rather slow, though we noticed that seemed common around town. The food was good, and our server was very kind.
