Hotel Majahual Resort

I was there from 02/26/2026 to 03/07/2026 and had a great stay at The Majahual Resort. It's really quiet, and the pool was nice for the kids. The staff were friendly and great. I just wish the rooms had a microwave and small fridge, and that they paid a bit more attention to updating the rooms.

Customer service needs serious work. The staff were very rude, and when we arrived the rooms weren't ready. They offered to give me a room dirty if I wanted it. We came to spend money, this wasn't free. The owners need to pay attention to the place. Our large group stayed there, but none of us want to return, and I wouldn't recommend it. The rooms smelled really bad, and the sheets were in terrible shape.

During the week the place was quiet, though on weekends it seemed a lot of local families drove down from the city to relax and have fun. There was construction on the lot next door for only a few days. We always pack earplugs when traveling for things like that. The AC unit in our room seemed newer and had a strong fan setting. The helpful staff were a plus. Daniel and Brenda gladly brought ice or cold bottled water whenever we asked. Breakfast was free and basic. We felt safe inside the gated property with a guard there 24 hours a day, and there was off-street parking. The rooms are spacious, but they lack the basics I expect from a resort: no mini fridge, nowhere to hang clothes, no hot water, stiff pillows, and polyester sheets. I'd suggest asking for an upstairs room, where the lighting is nicer and you can watch iguanas in the trees. The hotel is near the beach, but not close enough to call beachfront. The pool is nice, but it turned my platinum blonde hair greenish. I learned that the hard way, and without hot water I couldn't wash out the chlorine. I can see this place improving and would like to return someday to see what changes. A place to hang dress clothes, a mini fridge, coffee maker, soft cotton sheets, and fluffy pillows would make a real difference for guests and could make this a five-star hotel.

We really liked staying here. It was quiet and felt safe, and the beach was a short walk away. One of the young guys made the best margaritas we've ever had.
