Hotel Zelen

The pool is the highlight, with plenty of good seating around the deck. The garden also has nice places to sit, and the wifi worked well. The location is handy, just off the main strip on a small side street, about halfway to the beach boardwalk. Our room had good AC. This isn't a luxury place, but it works well if you want more of a hotel than a hostel. There was construction underway, though most of the affected area had been sectioned off, so it wasn't a huge issue for me. The room was pretty bare-bones, and the bathroom door had a sizeable hole in it that should be fixed. It felt expensive for what it is. I'd recommend it at a discounted rate, and I think it will be better value once construction is finished.

The pool is amazing. You have to request room service, and we forgot on the first day. With construction going on, it doesn't feel worth paying full price right now. Once the work is finished, I highly recommend it.

The beds weren't very comfortable, and the pool closes at 8 PM, so that's why I can't give it five stars. The location is excellent, though, with restaurants and clubs within walking distance and the ocean extremely close.

The loud work right beside our room started early in the morning and made it impossible to rest. We also found a dead cockroach inside, and the property was dusty and dirty from the remodeling. The pool was closed and there was no hot water. None of the renovation work was mentioned when we booked, so we felt misled. The stay was very disappointing and didn't match what had been advertised.
