The day pass covered a few pools, the beach, and a food and drink credit, and I’d do it again. We ate under the trees in a cool little jungle hut setting. Service took a while, but they got every order right. The Carne Asada was tender, the Fajitas de Carne were great, and the Suprema beers went down well. The bead pudding square may have been one of the best I’ve had in El Salvador. My kid called the fish and chips the best ever. The cheesecake was just okay.

The beach felt almost private since this was the only hotel in the area, and there were several pools, with some reserved for guests and others for day visitors. I had a relaxing stay and would come back for longer. If you want somewhere quiet and peaceful, it suited me. I was told there are other hotels a few miles away, and plenty of hotels and restaurants in the area. I didn’t ask about massages, but if they offer them, I imagine they’d be lovely. The place felt like a little forest oasis. I booked a pool or ocean view and got a pool view. Next time I’d ask for room 20 or 21, since they face the ocean and have small balconies with chairs. Room 49 also caught my eye. It’s on the first floor while the other rooms are upstairs, and there’s no balcony, but it has two lounge chairs overlooking a tree lined stream. It feels secluded from the other rooms, and I think it would be lovely for a couple. The staff were friendly and polite, always checking if I needed anything and greeting me with a smile. The boutique was closed when I arrived, but they saw me waiting and called someone to open it. It had lots of things for sale. Check in for rooms is at 3, but I paid an extra $20 to get into mine right away because it was available. The room had a big bed, a decent bathroom, and excellent air conditioning. I like it cold, and even turned it off. It got dark in the room at nine, and I didn’t hear noise at night despite all the families staying there. I enjoyed the food, especially the fresh seafood so close to the water. I had a seafood cocktail and a rice dish with seafood. The Mojito was amazing, and I hadn’t had one that good in years. I ordered an Aperol Spritz too. They told me before making it that they didn’t have champagne, which was fine with me. For a specific room, I’d call the hotel directly to reserve. I booked through Expedia and paid a little more.

The place itself was lovely, the food was delicious, and the staff were very friendly. But room 17 had cockroaches in the sheets and pillows. Staff offered to replace the bedding, yet we kept finding more in the room. No one offered us another room, and they said a refund wasn’t possible. We couldn’t relax or enjoy our stay, and I really hope none got into our luggage.

After three visits, this one was my last. I rented five rooms for my family and spent over $2000.00 usd on food and drinks, but the service had gone from good to worse. Some staff were too strict, yelling at us for having a can of beer beside the pool. They closed beach access too early, along with things like the pool tables. At breakfast, we were allowed to serve ourselves from the buffet only once. There were plenty of other things we disliked. Other hotels and resorts offer more freedom and a chance to relax and enjoy a vacation.

The food was good and the service was excellent. I only wish breakfast were served in the antique dining area, since the beach has no wheelchair ramp.
