The location made it easy to explore on foot, with Palacio Nacional and Plaza Gerardo Barrios close by. Cardedeu Centro Histórico has a lovely mix of historic and modern design, and the rooms felt comfortable, clean, and modern. Mine had Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and a great view over the historic center. I also liked the elegant decor and the food choices, including Silvestre restaurant and CEACHE rooftop bar, which has amazing views of San Salvador. It may be a bit expensive for some travelers. I'd recommend it to tourists, couples, or anyone wanting to experience San Salvador's history.

Everything is within walking distance, which matters a lot to me when I travel. I don't like being stuck somewhere where I can't walk to anything, and this hotel is right in the middle of things. I got in touch with them weeks before my stay, and they were quick to answer all my questions, including about checking in late. The area felt very safe, so I was comfortable going out to explore. Breakfast was fantastic, and it seemed carefully prepared.
After twenty years without a vacation, my mom and I decided we both deserved a trip after the year we'd had. She chose El Salvador for its beauty and how much it has developed in recent years. I speak Spanish pretty well, so she thought I could help us get around. That turned out to be such a blessing. Drivers, people we met on the street, tour guides, and hotel employees were all delightful. At Cardedeu, our room was kept very clean, the city view was beautiful, and the front desk made us feel so welcome. We had no idea our dates fell during a huge Christmas celebration, which was a wonderful surprise. The location was great too, with friendly restaurants, coffee shops, and boutiques all around. The people there made us feel like family. Suzy served us a lovely breakfast every morning with the sweetest manner and a beautiful smile. Claudia, a waitress at the downstairs restaurant, went out of her way to find us pupusas, which I'd been struggling to find and really wanted to try. She was so sweet and friendly. Manny, the night bartender at the little lobby bar, suggested some great local beer and liquor. We found out we had mutual friends because I bartend in Houston, where he used to live. He remembered our names and made us feel special whenever we saw him. I can't thank Cardedeu or El Salvador enough. This trip, the country, and the people have changed us for life, and they all have a place in our hearts. We've booked another stay for next year and can't wait to see everyone again. It was a blessing to find this gem in such a gorgeous part of San Salvador.
We paid $230 for a box of a room without a window. I felt like I was in a cell, and was extremely disappointed. At the very least, a hotel room should have a window to look outside. I had hoped for a balcony, but didn't even get a window. The larger rooms come with balconies at a much higher price, and anything cheaper apparently doesn't even have a window. We were told parking would be more convenient than it was. The walk wasn't awful, but carrying our luggage up from the bottom of the garage was a huge hassle. We were lucky to stay just one night and fit everything into one suitcase. For several nights, this would never have worked for us. There were practically no amenities. Wi-Fi was the only thing included, and they said even that could cut in and out, though it was fine for us. We've stayed in places at a quarter of this price with a window, a balcony or patio, a pool, and breakfast included. Here, breakfast was included for us, though we were told sometimes it isn't. It was the worst hotel breakfast we've had so far. The frejol and bread were hard, and the bread wasn't fresh. The eggs were decent, but I can't eat eggs, though my boyfriend enjoyed them. I thought breakfast might save the experience, and a nice pool could have helped too, but there wasn't one. There's a rooftop restaurant where you can spend more, but it only had four options. I can't eat meat, and there was nothing meat-free for me. They still had the nerve to say we couldn't bring in outside food. It was extremely disappointing. In the room, an awful artificial scent was sprayed automatically and constantly. You could just breathe in the fumes. Then they left an eco-friendly note in the bathroom asking us to reuse towels, which seemed hilarious when the scent was being sprayed everywhere. If I owned the place, I'd get rid of it. Over the past two years, we've traveled to El Salvador twice, Greece, and Costa Rica. This was probably the worst hotel of all those trips, with the fewest amenities. They called it the most expensive and fancy in Salvir, but that wasn't our experience. We go to El Salvador once every year, but we won't return, so they've lost a yearly customer.
You can enjoy the lively feel of the city and still have a comfortable, peaceful place to unwind here. Cardedeu Hotel sits in San Salvador's historic center, with cultural sites nearby and comfortable, modern rooms. A good choice if you want to explore the city and its history.
