The first night was at Hostal Casa Luna, a sister property across the street, even though I had booked Anrtique Luna. I was told my original hotel was full, and the replacement was clearly inferior, yet I was charged the Anrtique Luna rate. They said I could move the next day, but then demanded twice what I had already paid. There wasn’t even drinking water. This was a horrible welcome to El Salvador. It felt like I’d been lied to and ripped off, and companies like this are damaging the country’s reputation with tourists. I also met someone who had booked a private room but was placed in a shared dorm because they were full.

Really good hostel for the price. The rooms are big, everything was clean, and the woman running the place was so friendly. Best price in town!

We paid an unbelievably low $9 a night through Booking and got a huge room. The hostel is in a beautiful old building a few blocks from the cathedral. You can hear street noise, though it gets pretty quiet at night once traffic dies down.

We stayed for a week and wished we’d booked more time. The courtyard and shared kitchen are lovely, and the historic building is well kept and very clean. I don’t know what Sylvie Boivin means about smells, because the place was absolutely clean. The staff were kind and really helpful, especially Iris, who feels like the heart of this little hotel. A great budget stay in central Santa Ana.

Such a cute, peaceful place, with comfy beds and everything kept really clean. The host was lovely, and the location made things easy: there’s a supermarket around the corner, scooter rental next door, and the main plaza is a five minute walk. Cheap, too!
