I found it far too expensive for what you get, and I really can't recommend this hotel. Communication was poor from the start. I got no reply when I asked how best to reach the hotel. When I arrived, my booked “deluxe room” had mold. The rooms by the restaurant were on the side, and I could move upstairs, but that room had three beds. I had to push a bed aside just to open the bathroom door. I skipped breakfast after being told a little milk would cost one dollar, and decided to eat outside instead. The team gave different information depending on who I spoke to, which was confusing, and there was basically no communication. I told two employees the day before that I planned to check out a day early. I asked one whether a refund might be possible and said I understood if it wasn't. He called his boss or a colleague and told me I'd hear back the next morning. In the morning, the employee said he had no idea I was leaving early and couldn't reach the others by phone. My complaint isn't about not getting a refund, it's about how badly they communicated. He didn't even know I'd already paid for the room until I showed him my credit card receipt.

The reception staff were the only good thing about this hotel. We paid $45 a night for a double room with a private bathroom, but got a disgusting room at the back. There was mold and damp on the walls, a cockroach in the bed, and a leaking sink that left the floor wet. We reported it straight away, but they couldn't move us that night. Since we were staying two nights, they put us in a better upstairs room for the second night. The first room was old, smelly, and dirty, and didn't look anything like the photos. It wasn't safe or healthy, especially at that price. Staff did eventually act quickly to sort something out, but they shouldn't let anyone stay in that room. It was awful. The location was only okay, about a 10-minute walk from the center. I don't recommend this hotel at all.

The staff, from the kitchen to the front desk, made the stay feel a little like home. They were attentive even to small requests like extra towels. The food seemed fresh and full of flavor, and the hospitality was top-notch. I can see why people recommend this place. I just wish there had been parking.

I stayed five nights to recover after a terrible experience at Hostal Sole. Everyone was so kind and helpful, especially Nestor and Jaime at reception. They even brought a table and chair to my room without me needing to ask. The restaurant food was great, and you can walk to everything you need. Highly recommend it.

I happened upon Velvet Hotel during breakfast and was really impressed by the food and how nicely it was presented, especially for such a reasonable price. The chef clearly puts care into making a meal look as good as it tastes. The warm atmosphere and sweet staff made me feel at home as soon as I walked in. Thanks to everyone there. I’ll definitely be back as soon as I can.
