Blue Dream apartments

The location is the one thing that kept this from being a one-star review. The apartment wasn't clean: the floor was wet, the bed felt dirty, and there were little roaches everywhere at night. The mattress needs replacing. There were no utensils, cups, glasses, or plates, just a furnished space with a nice view. The pool was dirty and never lit up at night. The sheets were so bad I ended up covering myself with towels and my own clothes. I booked through booking.com, where the listed price was much lower. When I asked for an invoice, they sent a picture over WhatsApp with a bigger bill for no reason. It didn't seem legit. I paid $usd160 for two nights.

Blue Sail apartments, formerly known as Blue Dream apartments, was a blue nightmare rather than a dream. I have traveled widely and stayed in all sorts of places around the world, but I've never come across anything this dishonest. For this price, you can find much better in Sint Maarten. A real disgrace. We paid $248.00 per night, and what we got was a small, musty room with a strange smell, not an apartment. It had a narrow grandmother's bed for two, a 40-year-old plastic wardrobe, and no private bathroom. The only shower was in a tiny enclosed room, about the size of a toilet, with no ventilation. The toilet's only sink had no mirror. There was an old iron but no ironing board. The sheets smelled musty, mold covered the walls, cockroaches crawled in the shower, and there was dog poop on the property. The internet was unstable, the place was poorly maintained, and it stank. What we received was nothing like the booking.com listing, which described an apartment with a separate bedroom, outdoor terrace, pool view, and washing machine. This was more like a single room. On arrival, we were told by WhatsApp which apartment to take. We contacted the host, Miss Kay Manners, right away. After fifteen minutes she replied that she'd ask her boss, and could only pass on the complaint. Her boss was meant to arrive on January 2nd, our departure day. She told me to contact him directly at an Italian mobile number, but three months later it still hadn't produced a reply. I have to wonder if the number even exists. I messaged her every day, and from January 1st she stopped answering entirely. They say, "Our job is what we love... So we will give our best to welcome you," but that wasn't true for us. It felt like a rip-off. I advise people against staying here. Looking at the reviews, it seems this has happened to other customers too. They changed the name from Blue Dream apartments, which gives new customers the temporary advantage of not seeing the older, accurate reviews. Those reviews are still under the previous name.

Don't waste your coins on this place. The service is terrible, and communication can take days. I should have read the reviews first, since people warned us. When I tried to reach the Italian owner, the answer came in Italian. They billed me the full amount when I cancelled. Booking should stop advertising them.

We eventually left after several nights without sleep and found another apartment. We asked the owner to refund part of the tourist tax but never heard back. A few days after we left, booking.com told us the owner had reported that we never stayed there, probably to avoid booking.com fees and a bad review. A very bad experience. If you still book here after reading this, consider yourself warned. The night before arrival, we were told our apartment wasn't available and we'd need to stay one night in another one. That unit was very old: the bathroom mirror was cracked, the toilet barely flushed, the beds sagged badly, and the sofa bed sat right in the middle of the kitchen. The small patio door was hard to open and close, and the outdoor chairs had broken armrests. The next day we moved to a newer apartment, but there were German cockroaches in the kitchen and mold in the bathroom. It was meant to have two bedrooms, but the second bed was on a mezzanine built into the kitchen, not in a separate room. Anyone sleeping there would be woken if you moved around the kitchen in the morning. The website photos are outdated. In person, the garden and pools looked much less appealing. Half the poolside chairs were broken, and the nearly empty jacuzzi was too dirty to use. There are eight apartments but only two small pools and two decent sun loungers. Apartments 1 and 2 had two families with eight children between them during our stay, so when they were in the pool, there was no room for guests in apartments 3 to 8. The children screamed in the pool and garden until midnight, making sleep impossible. The bedroom windows had no glass, just grilles and wooden shutters, so you could hear everything. Our neighbors were directly above our bedroom, and we could hear every footstep and every word.
