Simpson Bay Resort, Marina & Spa

The two-floor unit gave four of us on a girls' trip good space and privacy, and we appreciated the upgrade to an ocean-facing unit. But the price didn't match the service. I wouldn't stay at Simpson Bay Resort again. The rooms need major upgrades and cleaning; ours felt dusty and wasn't properly cleaned. Housekeeping was poor or nonexistent. No sweeping or mopping was done, and we saw mildew. I started coughing during the stay, which concerned me. Breakfast was unacceptable, especially for vegetarians, with almost no options. We were told avocado toast cost extra, as did cappuccino and even a basic tea bag. After paying a premium, those charges felt petty and unwelcoming. Check-in was also extremely unprofessional. The front desk agent offered a “penthouse upgrade,” which on this island just means a two-bedroom apartment, then left us waiting nearly two hours after a long flight while he said he needed to speak to management. He was visibly busy trading his investment portfolio on his phone as we stood exhausted in the lobby. It felt disrespectful and unacceptable. The place came across as a high-volume resort with minimal service, perhaps fine for families with children or guests who plan to cook and stay in. For travelers looking for cleanliness, professionalism, and value, it falls short. Management needs to address staff training, housekeeping, and the extra charges.

On our fourth visit to Simpson Bay resort, we stayed in the beachfront Flamboyant building. The two-bedroom unit worked well, with the second bedroom upstairs from the main living space and the other bedroom. Upstairs had its own balcony, plus there was another balcony with a hot tub that didn't work. Hearing the waves lap at the beach was delightful. Unlike our previous trips, this time we got daily maid service. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the unit was handy to the marina pool and restaurants.

Once the room issue was sorted, we were in vacation mode within an hour, and the trip was awesome. The ocean view from our private balcony was amazing. Since we had an end unit, we could also see the mountains the other way and the offsite beach. We liked where the room was in the resort, convenient to the strip, the neighboring offsite beach, waverunners, and Pardon My French, which was within walking distance. The stay itself was really enjoyable, and housekeeping and everything else on site were great. The coffee shop had good coffee, and I'd stay here again and ask for the same room. The start was rough, though. Parking while checking in was annoying, and security complained that we'd parked too close to the taxi spot even though there was no other option. We had to circle and wait for a space. Then we found the adjoining room wasn't secured during our room security check. My sweetheart called, but they told him it was secure and didn't seem concerned, so he had to insist someone come up. I wish I'd taken a picture of the staff member's face when that door opened. She fixed the issue.

They couldn't give us a noon checkout after we called to ask for a late checkout, saying another guest was checking in at 4 pm the next day. Our shower was moldy, though the room itself was decent. We asked for an upgrade at check-in because we were engaged, but got a unit in the building farthest away, facing a laundromat with no view. It was very loud, and a bright porch light shone into the room, leaving zero privacy. The customer service was awful; it felt like they didn't want tourists there. You pay for the location, but I didn't find it worth it. The quality felt like a Motel 6 in America. We wasted our money. I'd say stay at the morgan or find a better Airbnb, and don't stay here.
