Four Seasons Hotel Damascus

The call centre was really rude and had no idea how to talk to customers.

I went in today to join the GYM, but found out there aren’t enough lockers. The older members have permanent ones, so new members don’t even get a temporary locker and are told to leave their things at reception. I decided not to sign up and left a message asking the hotel manager to call me so we could talk about it. I still haven’t heard back.

The price is definitely on the high side, but the service and decor are wonderful. It’s so fancy I sometimes feel shy about coming out of my room on a lazy Sunday afternoon. The gym is excellent, and I usually go at 0530 hrs. The mist sauna and massage are great, and breakfast is excellent too, just as expected. Highly recommend.

I stay here on trips between Beirut, Lebanon and Qamishli, Syria, and the polite, helpful reception staff always make it pleasant. One August they even surprised me by greeting me on my national day of Constitution. I’ve never had staff pay such attention to guests. The rooms are comfortable, and the breakfast is superb. I like how the servers remember me and ask if I want my usual food. That’s how guests should be treated. There is one thing that still bothers me. I left a bracelet in the bathroom by accident. It wasn’t expensive, but it meant a lot to me. When I emailed later, the reply came late and wasn’t acceptable. I was told the cleaning staff threw it away, assuming the stone bracelet was garbage. I don’t believe someone would mistake that for rubbish, and this sort of thing isn’t acceptable at a hotel where the rest of the staff are so kind and make us feel at home. I’d recommend staying here in Damascus, but I’d give more stars once lost property is handled properly by the cleaning staff.
