Hotel La Vista Azul

The first staff we met were nice, and I understood the $200 deposit when they told us about it on arrival, even though I hadn’t known in advance. But the room had crumbs on the dresser, and one towel had a visible stain. Mosquitoes were all over the room, bathroom, and rest of the space, making it hard to relax or sleep. On our last night, I found three baby roaches, two in the kitchen and one on the nightstand beside the bed. The cleaning lady on checkout morning was also unfriendly. The cleanliness and pests made the stay disappointing, and I hope the hotel sorts these problems out for future guests.

We won’t book here again, though we do want to visit Turks again. During our four nights, alarms went off in other units too. Ours sounded the day before we left, April 13th, apparently because of steam from a shower. Security had seen my husband vaping in the parking lot and assumed the alarm meant someone had smoked in the room. Our host, Pam and Paul, was sweet at first, but later charged us 200$. They contacted us April 21st, a week after the alarm, which I don’t consider professional. We’re adults, we know not to smoke in a rental, and there’s no way anyone smoked in our unit. I have a heart condition and can’t be around smoke. The staff were rude, and I felt they didn’t care for Americans. I also felt people were lying to us. Mosquitoes were awful, or maybe there were bed bugs in our unit, I don’t know. The place is disgusting, and the leftover cold food was overpriced. The roads were terrible, people were rude, and people didn’t even answer when we spoke to them. The airport is about the size of one of my houses. Don’t believe the hype. I was disappointed in the hotel and host for trying to leave us with that bill. Zero stars.

The views were amazing, and the room was spacious and clean with the amenities I needed. Staff were friendly, and the gate helped me feel safe. I’d definitely stay again!

This was good value, especially for snorkelers who want to avoid the tourist crowds. You’ll need a car, though GPS brought us to the back of the property. The bed was comfortable, there was a full kitchen, and the private patio was lovely for breakfast or relaxing. The pools were great, and excellent snorkeling was just a 2-minute drive away. Beach chairs and umbrellas were available at the front desk.
