Sunset Ridge Hotel

We had a horrible stay. My wife and I needed a room for one night after our flights changed. The first room was dirty, with hair and debris all over the floor. The front desk woman apologized and said they may have forgotten to clean it. The next room was no better: there were mouse droppings in the bed and stained sheets. They offered a third room, but I declined because this seemed like a pattern. Both rooms looked dated, needed a lot of attention, and showed water damage or leaks. I had serious health concerns about staying there. I think a place like this would be shut down if it were in the US. I asked for a refund and was told to go through the booking platform. It cost $300 a night. Hotels.com contacted the hotel, supposedly, but the refund request was denied. We were horrified and disgusted and just wanted to leave quickly, so we didn't take many photos. Don't book here unless dirty rooms and mice are acceptable to you.

I missed my connection to Grand Turk, and there were no flights until morning, so I had to stay the night. At around $270, the room felt like a cheap motel, with two-star quality at four-star prices. Still, it's steps from the airport, the staff were friendly, and the bar food was quite good. The thin walls let you hear people in nearby rooms, and staff and other guests were slamming doors. Planes taking off and landing were noisy too. After 11 p.m., it got very quiet. If you have no other choice, the airport convenience makes it workable. Otherwise, I'd stay somewhere else.

After a flight delay made us miss our connection to Grand Turk, someone at the airport pointed us to Sunset Ridge. Kentahl was friendly and very helpful. Our double queen room was clean, quiet, and air conditioned. We had dinner at the small outdoor bar, Taste Buds, on the patio overlooking the airport. It was a relaxing end to a long travel day. Sunset Ridge wasn't part of our plans, but I'm glad it was there when we needed somewhere for the night. The airport was a short walk in the morning.

We stayed 11 nights. The restaurant food was reasonably priced, and Francesca, the chambermaid, was the best. The room was always thoroughly cleaned. Give her a big tip! It's good value, though you'll want to rent a car to get around the island. It's very close to the airport, but the planes didn't make much noise and didn't bother us.
