The Wind Hotel

The pool was a nice spot to unwind, and getting around from the hotel was easy. My room was clean, roomy, and comfortable, and the staff were helpful and friendly the whole time. I had a fantastic stay at The Wind Hotel, especially for the price. I'd gladly come back.

I only stayed here because I had errands and no hotel choice. The room was bare minimum, with a hard mattress and no extra pillow. The battered old keycards didn't help, and the aircon took hours to make the room comfortable. In the shower there was nowhere to put toiletries, so I had to leave my soap and other things on the floor. The toilet seat sat crooked, and the strong smell of cheap vanilla spray gave me a headache. There were hardly any bathroom basics: no dental kit, shower cap, cotton buds, or small towel. Breakfast coffee tasted bad, and the milk left an oily coating on my palate, like evaporated milk mixed with oil. The tap water smelled badly of mildew. A friend at another nearby hotel had the same issue, so I guess it may be the local water supply.

Breakfast is served as a set, and parking is available. The room was pretty okay, but the hotel is surrounded by forest and there's no shop or restaurant nearby. It's far from the beach, so you'll need a bike or other vehicle to get around.

The power went out after we finally got to our room, soaked through from the rain. I've been waiting over an hour as I write this, and there's still no solution. Before that, our car was first to arrive, but the staff with the big umbrellas ignored us and helped guests who came later. We waited in the car for ages, then gave up and ran through the downpour ourselves. Reception just stood there mumbling “sorry.” This is a mid-range hotel that's way overpriced for what we got. The staff were incompetent, the service was atrocious, and even basic amenities didn't work. I'm exhausted and furious after this disappointing nightmare of a stay.
