Pingplalee House

Pingplalee has a lovely, family-run homestay feel. I’ve stayed several times and tried three different rooms. One was spacious, with two beds and an extra bed/sofa; the other two were cozy single rooms with two beds. Every room I stayed in had its bathroom outside, which worked fine for me. The rooms have a fridge and TV, though I couldn’t get the TV to work. The property has four floors, with rooms on different levels. I especially liked the top floor balcony, where you can have morning coffee and look out over the peaceful streets, trees, and surrounding buildings. It’s a quiet little retreat. They also provide free hot water and tea, a thoughtful touch. The rooms and shared bathrooms and showers were kept spotless, making for a comfortable stay. The key setup was the one small hassle: you need 1-2 keys to enter the building at night, plus another for your room. That key is attached to a large wooden panel, so it’s cumbersome to carry, though I do appreciate the extra security. It’s a 10-minute walk from BTS Ari station. The neighborhood makes up for that with plenty of charm, and the morning market on Soi Ari 3 and 2 was one of the best discoveries in the area. Despite those small drawbacks, I’d happily return and recommend Pingplalee if you want somewhere homely, quiet, and conveniently located.

The location made getting around easy, with the sky train, tuk-tuks, restaurants, and hospitals all within walking distance. Lee even helped me flag down a taxi on Friday evening. The mother-and-daughter hosts have made their home into a cozy guest house, and the rooms and bathrooms were clean. I loved the dark polished wood floors, and there’s a little rooftop deck with two stools. They also put out small snacks and hot chocolate. Their cafe made really juicy burgers, too. Just watch out for the steep stairs. I left my heavy luggage downstairs. Thanks, Ping and Lee!
