Anyavee Aonang Bay

A man who helped us with a leaking shower head and other things deserves a lot of credit. The hotel has potential, but it’s missing too many basics to stand out. Breakfast was mostly cold and half empty every day. The room had a cheap, slow television that kept buffering, and the cleaners made the bed but didn’t change the sheets during our stay. The room wasn’t cleaned well when we arrived, with hair on the floor, bed, and in the fridge. The air conditioning needs cleaning or replacing because the air didn’t feel good. The bathroom could use renovation, and water gets onto the floor easily when showering, despite the drain. Doors slam loudly and disturb other rooms. The pool was okay, though a portable pump next to it looked awful. Some guests were drunk and smoking marijuana by the pool.

The location was great, and the cleaners were good about leaving our towels alone when we didn’t ask for fresh ones. Receptionist Ally was exceptional, and the maintenance team handled things efficiently. We had a leaking room at first, but were moved after a couple of days. The room layout was odd, with a double and single bed pushed together and no gap, even if you only wanted the double. I liked all the mirrors. The pool was supposed to open at 8, but actually opened at 9 because of staff start times. That didn’t work well for me, as later it was hard to swim with kids or adults cooling off in the pool.

It feels like an older heritage property, but it’s very well looked after. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the bath tubs were properly maintained. Our first room had faulty switches, so we had to change rooms, but the new one was ready within minutes. The staff were friendly, the pool was clean and fun, and the location worked well: close to the beach and market, while still away from noisy areas so we could relax in peace.

We spent a week here and found it okay. The setting is quiet and not too far from the main attractions. The pools were closed, but they gave us complimentary breakfasts instead. Breakfast itself was fine and mostly Thai style, so don’t expect too much.
