Jungle Village Bungalows

We had a villa with loads of space, and it was clean and tidy. The grounds were cared for, all three pools were spotless, and the staff were kind and helpful. The resort is a few kilometres from the beach, but there are free shuttles several times a day, and we could get a Grab or Bolt when we needed one. We were sorry to leave and wished we could stay longer. It was one of the nicest places we stayed in SEA, and we’d recommend it 10/10. Don’t let the bad reviews put you off.

It’s a beautiful resort in lovely surroundings, and the rooms are high-quality huts. The pool is big enough for a proper swim, and the food is good. There are regular free transfers to and from Ao Nang beach, so you can stay out of the busy centre. They’ve thought of everything, including asking guests to keep quiet after 10pm. Children need to be careful, though that’s true on the street too. I’m not sure why this place gets bad reviews.

We were only here for one night, adding it at the last minute to our Ao nang stay, and may have got a cheaper rate. Still, we were really happy with it. The peaceful pool area is lovely, lit up in the evening, and I think you can swim until about 8:30. You can order cocktails from the restaurant. Breakfast was lovely, while the pad Thai at lunch was just average. The rooms are comfortable, clean and perfectly sufficient, though nothing fancy. The grass is beautifully kept, and there are koi fish in the restaurant. There isn’t much nearby, so renting a bike from the hotel or using the shuttle to Ao nang beach, which I think runs about five times a day, is the easiest option. Up the road, Patty Thai food is a simple little restaurant with divine food. We’d recommend this place for a quiet pool getaway :)

The place itself is beautiful, and the rest of Thailand has been lovely to me, but staying here was the worst travel experience I’ve had in 10 years. The staff’s behaviour was really disappointing. Once they’d taken payment, it felt like nobody would listen to problems. A tall older woman said a lot of rubbish to us as if she owned us. If you don’t book a cab or scooter through them, they get arrogant and answer even simple questions harshly. I’d avoid booking this jungle resort. If you’ve already booked, check the whole room, even small things, and ask to change rooms straight away if anything’s wrong, or you may regret it. Don’t ask them for outside food or a cab from somewhere else, because they get angry. And don’t argue much. You’re a foreigner, and the whole staff can turn into goons, blocking the way with their car and shouting loudly.
