Krabi Aquamarine Resort - SHA Extra Plus

The location was a highlight, close to the night market, cafes, shops, and the beach for walks. We stayed two nights. The hotel is old and clearly was once the “superstar” of the coast. It could use an update, but the staff work hard to keep it clean. Our room was spacious and clean, the AC worked well, and the pool and grounds were cleaned up daily. For me, a place doesn’t have to be new as long as it’s well looked after.

The cleaners were the friendliest and most helpful people here. The rest of the service was awful, and at checkout we didn’t even get a goodbye, just a nod. On arrival no one was around, so we had to search for someone. The staff member who checked us in didn’t greet us or look at us. We were given the wrong room and told the hotel was full when we asked for the one we booked. After a brief dispute, they somehow found our original room. The room was very dated, with stained sheets, uncomfortable beds and pillows, some dead light bulbs, and a fridge that stank of weed and couldn’t be used. The front door only had a latch on the inside. The bathroom smelled at certain times, so we had to shut the door and run the fan. Getting into the shower in the bath was like navigating an obstacle course. Wi-Fi was 1/10 and kept dropping. Every time we closed a laptop or left the room, we had to log back in manually on each device. When it stopped working one day, I reported it, but the staff member kept looking at her phone and just said, “20 minutes.” The location is good, if you can put up with music every evening until 2:30am. This was possibly our worst hospitality experience in nearly 12 months travelling around Asia. The hotel is overpriced and I can’t recommend it.

The only thing going for this hotel is how close it is to the night market. We stayed four days, and our room was cleaned just once. The cleaners looked under 16 and took an absurdly long time per room. We left at 6am one day and returned at 6pm to find ours still untouched. Everything looked very old apart from the pool. When we asked the receptionist about cleaning, they were extremely unpleasant and made no effort to respond. The beds felt like bricks, and one towel I was given was in awful condition, as if insects had eaten it. Calling this a resort is a stretch. The place is terrible, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

Our stay at Krabi Aquamarine Resort was fantastic, and I honestly don’t understand the negative reviews. The pool was lovely, clean, and relaxing, and the whole property was beautiful, well maintained, and cleaned every day. Our room was spacious, clean, and very nice, and I loved having a bathtub. It was also quiet at night despite being close to things, and the night market was handy for dinner and shopping. We didn’t try breakfast, so I can’t comment on it. Everything else was 10/10. I’d highly recommend this resort to anyone visiting Krabi. Thank you :)
