Palm Paradise Aonang Resort

The pool is very good, and the resort is well maintained and in a good location. Breakfast was decent, but there wasn’t any vegetarian option. There’s no room service or amenities, and even water costs extra. Hospitality was poor: guests felt like people paying money rather than guests being cared for. The location is good, but the service isn’t.

The staff were the best part of our two weeks here with my husband and two little kids. When my husband and I got sick, they brought food to our bungalow and looked after us. The kitchen team and chef were so kind and caring, making us smile at breakfast each morning and treating us to fresh coconuts and mangos. A special thank you to the hard-working room cleaners too. The people here made our family vacation memorable. They also have a baby chair, which was super handy. Thank you so much for all the help and support! ❤️❤️❤️ We liked having the pool on the really hot days when we didn’t want to go anywhere. The kids enjoyed playing with the floating ducks and balls. Our bungalow was private and nice, though the rooms are old and outdated and could use a renovation. Everything still worked. The location was pretty good. It’s about a 10-minute walk to the restaurant and shopping area and night market, which was fine for us, though pushing a stroller was hard because there’s no sidewalk. Right next door is a really great Red Chilli restaurant with delicious Thai food.

Breakfast was the same every day, and room service wasn’t available after 5pm. Our room only got 1 litre of water a day, even though there were two guests. The bathroom smelled bad, had no exhaust fan, and the skylight was very dirty. There wasn’t a mirror in the room, or dental kits or moisturizer. Coffee and tea sachets were only provided when the room was cleaned. Service was unreliable. Housekeeping and bellboy service weren’t always available, and the room wasn’t cleaned unless we insisted, even when we left the key at the desk while going sightseeing. A cleaner also entered the bathroom without knocking. The front office staff were rude, stern and used objectionable words instead of welcoming us. There were restrictions posted everywhere, with fines listed for breaking them, a 500 thb deposit required at check-in, and extra charges and fines at every step. My three-day, two-night stay was horrible. I’d never recommend this hotel. It was a waste of money and spoiled the vacation.

At €110 a night, I wouldn't stay here again. Maybe €30-40 would feel fair, but the quality really didn't match the price, and the service left us disappointed enough that I had to say something, even though I rarely write reviews. The room was spacious, but the main sliding door wouldn't shut properly. Mosquitoes could get through the gap, so we had to hold the door closed with a hair tie. The bedside lamp was broken too. There was a persistent bad smell in the bathroom, and the shower pressure was weak with the temperature swinging from cold to very hot. I can't recommend it.
