The Nine Thipthara Klongson Resort

I stayed at a lot of hotels, but almost a year ago I found a place that felt like home. The staff were wonderful and helpful, and the rooms were perfect, clean, spacious and beautifully furnished, with a great bathroom and a tub overlooking the river. The private terrace with direct river access was amazing too. The resort was built with a real passion for detail, creating a lovely setting to get away. If you want relaxed days away from mass tourism, this is the perfect place.

The small resort has a lovely pool area, and the clean houses have an authentic look. It’s great value for money, but I’m giving four stars because I felt ripped off when I asked them to call a taxi to the airport. They refused unless I booked through the hotel at more than double the rate. For scooter rental, they wanted my passport as a deposit and to take it to their office, but wouldn’t give me any details about the company. I NEVER hand over my passport, especially without knowing anything about who’s taking it. Go into town for much better, cheaper scooter rentals that don’t require a passport deposit.

We stayed two nights in this resort, which looks like a little jungle. The room was nice, the bed very comfortable and the Whirlpool was cool, especially being able to change the lights inside. But the water in the shower and Whirlpool stayed hot for only 10 minutes, and sadly the pool was open only until 8pm. Breakfast was alright, though I’ve had better and worse. There were lots of mosquitos near the small river, and the sounds of nature were really loud and kind of annoying. You can rent a scooter, but it takes about 20 minutes for it to arrive. We nearly missed our flight back to Bangkok because returning it also took 20 minutes while the rental guy made his way to the hotel. The lady at reception didn’t really seem to care.

Our 4 nights at the resort were great, with excellent hospitality. Special thanks to Sikarn at reception, who helped us contact tour operators and find our way to places nearby. The rooms were clean, breakfast was just right, and the restaurant staff paid close attention to our tastes and prepared breakfast accordingly. Shout out to this resort!
