Villa Mungkala

Villa Mungkala is well placed in the temple district, close to Khao san road but quiet. They make you feel like family, store your luggage, and help with travel-related problems. The house has a remarkable colonial style, with 1920s music that makes it feel like stepping back a century. Don’t hesitate to book, and say hello to Aib.

It’s tucked away on a little lane instead of a busy road, so it’s really quiet. I got lucky finding this place in Bangkok. The relaxed, homey atmosphere and service made me feel special, and Ip and Timmy were fantastic. I’m sincerely grateful for all their support and advice, and would definitely recommend it to friends.

The hosts and owners are lovely, warm, attentive people, and breakfast is excellent. You eat in a cozy, charming corner of the house. It feels like a little oasis in the middle of this city of 11 million, and the location is very central. We only stayed one night. Our room was very clean, but quite small, and there was a noticeable sewage smell, likely from the old plumbing. With no window to air it out, that smell stood out more. We’d happily come back, ideally to a larger room without that smell. You wouldn’t expect such beautiful colonial villas tucked into these narrow back alleys. Villa Mungkala is a real little gem.

The location is lovely, near the temple complex, with shops, massage places, and street food options all around. The rooms are spacious and nicely furnished, with a big comfortable bed, balcony, Wi-Fi, and AC. Staff were very helpful and pleasant. They arranged cabs and helped us find traditional Thai wedding outfits. Breakfast is included from 8 to 10 am, with three dishes to choose from.
