We've stayed at Grandparent's Home three times now. It's a tiny place rather than a luxurious hotel, but its location is great for visiting ancient sites. Wat Rachaburana and Wat Mahathat are only a short walk away, which suited the two of us perfectly. We also like the Walk-in Cafe at the hotel. The food is good, the desserts are yummy, and the prices are fair. We'll be back for more nights in this ancient city. 🙂

The woman who runs the place was so kind and helped us with everything. She was available whenever we needed something and pointed us toward good temples and other places to visit. The rooms were quiet, and the location is close to the centre, with everything about five minutes away. There's also a really good café out front. We'd definitely stay again!

Ayutthaya is great to explore by bike, with bike lanes all over town, and the hotel made that easy by letting us keep our bikes around the back. The staff were lovely, and you're within a kilometre of one of the city's many ancient temples. The café is the highlight for me: beautiful, popular, and reasonably priced. The rooms are clean and spacious, with air conditioning and a warm shower. They're perfectly fine, just not finished to the same standard as the café. The hotel is well placed for exploring, with things either right outside or nearby.

The staff member was super friendly and talked us through the local area, what to do, and where to go. We could easily walk around nearby, and the location is hard to beat: there's a café and restaurant outside, a bar across the road, and the market a couple of streets away. The floating market is a short taxi ride. The room itself was okay and relatively clean, though the shower walls were dirty and dusty. The bed was fine but not especially comfortable. There were two doors, which felt odd, so we only used the front one. A lockable cupboard and a notice about taking care of our valuables also made a less reassuring first impression.

The attached café was a real bonus. The prices were reasonable, the food was fantastic, and I mostly worked my way through the dessert menu. The owners were lovely and helpful, and the basic room was perfectly fine. From here it's a 5-20 minute walk to the main central ruins, and the market, which was crazy cheap, is about 20 minutes away. I'd highly recommend staying here.
