Ayutthaya Garden River Home

The restaurant sits outside by the river, with some tables on land and a floating area with low tables and traditional Thai seating. We had several dishes for dinner, including two kinds of fried rice, roasted prawn, and prawn in pepper sauce. Everything was very nice and came out in good order, with nobody left waiting while another person was served. The river traffic was quiet, just a couple of tugboats and barges and a few small fishing boats. Several rooms have river views and outdoor patios. The location is nice, and the place isn't hard to find, about 13 minutes from the summer palace. Staff were friendly, helpful, and professional. There's a decent pool and lots of cute, interesting corners to sit or explore: a walkway over the lotus, little statues, log chairs, a wagon-wheel table, patios, and brick and stone paths. The room even had a small statue. It all felt pleasant, cute, and romantic. Parking fits five or six cars. Walking with a cane is okay, but it isn't suitable for a wheelchair. Our room was quiet, the AC was okay, and the shower had three options with good pressure and temperature. I'd happily stay again if I were in the area.

The garden and Lotus Lake were beautiful, and the location right by the river came with a lovely view. Our room was very clean and nicely decorated, and we enjoyed the swimming pool. Breakfast was the best western breakfast, with lots of choices and fresh fruit. The Pepsi and water in the Minibar were free. We highly recommend it.

It's a quiet, peaceful place, and the restaurant has a variety of Thai food to try. It's a bit far from the airport, so having a rental car is recommended. Otherwise, ask the hotel staff to help arrange a taxi to wherever you want to go.

The setting is really charming. I loved its position on the river and how peaceful it felt at night. The rest left a lot to be desired. I found the older woman at reception seriously lacking in manners when she came to talk with a new guest, and things only got worse. The room was airtight, the bed extremely hard, and cleanliness could have been much better. The bed pointed out from the wall at an awkward angle, so we had to rearrange the beds to make it safer. Even locking the room was quite a job. Breakfast was a joke: one egg, one sausage, and some bologna that tasted like anything but food. The coffee wasn't filtered, or maybe the filter had broken and nobody knew. I think this place used to be good. Bye. GTFOOH.
