The area is a gem for walking or running, with plenty of places to explore, a lake view at the national park about 5k away, and cafes and food spots within walking distance. The room was beautiful and had everything I needed, including brilliant A/C, a super comfortable bed, and a little work nook. Breakfast was simple and delicious. Mae was so kind and friendly. She offered to pick me up from the bus stop, about a 15 minute drive away, and also offered me a ride back to Chiang Mai. Mae and her father have two very friendly, playful dogs on the property. I loved my two nights here and would come back if I visit this part of Thailand again.

Mae was very polite, helpful, and hospitable, and the spacious room was in good condition. I was very pleased with my stay. Definitely a good place to stay if you’re going to Mae Ngat Somboon/BigTree.

We stayed for a couple of nights over new year. Even though it’s next to the road, it was quiet and peaceful, with lovely mountain views and rice fields. The bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve had in Thailand, and breakfast was tasty. It was nice to sleep without air conditioning and hear the frogs. I highly recommend the pizza restaurant 2km away.

You’ll need a bike or bicycle to get around, and the place doesn’t provide one. The host did suggest a rental place, but it was rather pricey, more than in Chiang Mai. Still, the location is beautiful and so quiet and peaceful. Our spacious room was very clean, the bed was really comfortable, and the host was friendly, easy to reach, and cleaned the room daily. Breakfast was delicious, and we also recommend the restaurant around the corner, about a 7 minute walk away.

Mai, who runs the place, is an amazing host. She cleaned my room spotless and left little cakes for me. She’s so welcoming, and you can tell she and her family work hard on the farm and care for the land with a lot of love. They clearly want guests to have a great time. I had peaceful nights there, and the villa was just what I needed: a big bed, lovely view, and lots of space. There are fantastic coffee shops nearby too. I recommend kramefein.
