Sappaya Hotel by Lotus Valley Golf Resort (SHA Plus+)

Really comfortable rooms for a very reasonable price.

The massage was really good, 1.5 hours for 750THB per person, but the CCTV situation in the treatment area was awful. There was an active camera where people undressed, and its feed was visible on a monitor at reception to anyone on the walkway behind it. When we pulled down our pants, staff hurried over, moved us into a blind corner, and tried to cover us with a towel. It was far too late and incredibly awkward. Reception brushed it off the next morning as if that was just how things were. We chose the hotel because we were going to a wedding nearby and the next closest place to stay was 10km away. The hotel and its setting in the middle of a nicely designed golf course are beautiful, and the rooms themselves were lovely. But so many details were badly handled. The clubhouse, a couple hundred metres away, is where breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served. Its last order is at 6:30, and the cheap plastic tables felt out of place next to the grand surroundings and good building materials. The balustrade is really nice, but inside the restaurant feels cheap. Construction for a second hotel section on the former parking area made a mess, and we had to leave the car farther along the road. That was inconvenient and strange. Our bed was about 3 metres wide and 2 metres long, but there was only 1.8 metres of bedding. My wife ended up with all of it while I slept more than 2 metres away. It was after midnight and we were exhausted, so we didn't call the night desk. There was no housekeeping or room service after 6:30 either. The lack of staff was also obvious from the piles of dirty plates left in the hall all night, looking and smelling bad. A trash can by the hotel entrance, beside one of the only two places where smoking was allowed, overflowed with McDonald's packaging and other rubbish that attracted vermin. Staff were smoking there too. The lovely pool also closed at 7pm, while people were still using it. Its lights came on an hour after dark, just 30 minutes before closing. A beautiful place, nice design and rooms, a lovely pool, and a good massage, but the food didn't impress us and too many pieces of the experience felt out of place.

There are green trees all around, so the atmosphere is lovely. They give you a welcome drink at check-in, and my room was clean, well equipped, and came with some tasty fruit. There's a small pool for families. For dinner, the restaurant is over by the golf course and staff take you there by golf cart. The food I ordered was good.

The hotel is clean and nice, set on the golf course near the border between Chachoengsao and NakhonNayok. There isn't a 7-11 nearby, so get what you need before checking in. The clubhouse has a restaurant, but it shuts at 7 pm, and the vending machine at the hotel isn't always working.
