Summit Windmill Golf Suite Hotel @Suvarnabhumi

The Windmill felt isolated and a bit soulless, with very little nearby, so unless I were a golfer I wouldn't spend much time there. We chose it for its airport proximity after our usual airport hotel was full. The pool was cold, dirty, and far too small for a hotel of this size. You can pay extra to use the pool at the Meridien. I'd choose the mövenpick at the airport or drive five minutes farther and stay elsewhere.

We've stayed at Summit Windmill Residence four times now, and my family always comes back when we're in Thailand before flying to New Zealand. The driver remembers us and my daughter, which makes each visit feel welcoming. Reception staff are friendly and professional, and all four room types I've tried have been spacious, comfortable, and well maintained. The green golf course surroundings make for a peaceful break, and the rates feel fair for the quality. The location is tucked away, but Grab is readily available. One small frustration is the complimentary water: just four small bottles a day, which feels limited when it's a long way to go out and buy more. Otherwise, it's become a trusted family stay, and we'll return. Thank you

The staff were the best part, and the course could have been good and challenging. But four flights of so-called "VIP" players were squeezed in despite lacking skill and etiquette, and that ruined it. The club should be ashamed of putting its guests through that.

Getting picked up at the airport was confusing. There wasn't a representative waiting at arrivals with my name, so I had to search through more than 50 signs. By chance, while walking back and forth, a woman asked which hotel I needed and sent me to another woman, who led me to a boy beside a random pole. My name was on a piece of paper hidden under another sign. The shuttle was included, and the drivers we had were friendly. Getting rides from the hotel was a hassle too. We'd traveled around Thailand, and only here did several drivers cancel one after another. Once we got one, the reason made sense: it takes at least 20 minutes just to get out of the hotel maze, cross two bridges, and pass several security booths. Bangkok is over an hour away by car, so I wouldn't stay here to explore the city. It's a good option if you only need to be near the airport or plan to golf. Our executive deluxe suite was lovely, with two bedrooms, four twin beds, a master bathroom and balcony overlooking the course, and a working kitchenette. The actual suite was the only thing that felt close to five-star luxury. The hand soap smelled like a gutter. Four pairs of slippers came sealed in plastic, so I assumed they were complimentary and took mine after wearing them. At checkout, I found I'd been charged for them. I've never been charged for sealed slippers before, especially at a five-star hotel. Breakfast was included and fine, but ordinary: eggs, bacon, sausage, tea, juice, and coffee. The gym was tiny, and the pool looked like a fish pond at first because it was so small and shallow. I had to check the rules sign to be sure it was a pool. Front desk staff were mediocre, cliquey, and chatting among themselves. They weren't as friendly or smiley as most people we met in Thailand, and other hotels and resorts greeted us more warmly. The bellhop was nice.
