Icare Residence & Hotel

We had a comfortable room in a part of Bangkok that worked well for us at the time. A large mall was close enough to walk to, and there were street food choices nearby too.

The area felt especially safe to me. There are electronic doors and staff on duty, which gave the impression that unauthorized visitors wouldn't get in. I also needed to be near Lak Song MRT. iCare is at the end of a narrow alley, and getting to the station took about ten very walkable minutes. The street is cramped and has enough traffic to notice. From the station, there's direct access to The Mall, a modern shopping center with plenty of places to eat and shop. There are also a couple of small night markets and convenience stores nearby. I liked my stay, and the hotel delivers in most ways. Still, it felt like a well-run place that should cost under $20, while the actual price was well above that, so I don't think I'll return. I paid a little more than I wanted after a problem with another booking forced me to find somewhere at the last minute. This was one step up in price, and only the most expensive room was available, but I thought it was worth it. The Deluxe Room had an extra twin bed I didn't need, though it could be handy for people traveling with extra family members. The small table was useful. Water pressure in the shower was weak, and the layout of the sliding glass doors made getting in and out awkward. Those issues weren't serious enough to change my overall rating. I didn't use the snacks and drinks in the lobby because nearby convenience stores suited me, but it was handy to have them there.

The rooms are roomy and the prices are affordable, but the beds were far too hard for me to sleep comfortably.
