Alley and Pier was in a great spot, very close to Kaoh San Road and a river ferry stop, so it was easy to take the boat along the river. The room was clean and spacious, with a nice bathroom. On the third floor there’s a room with a washing machine, fridge, microwave, and everything else we needed. There aren’t any staff at the hotel, but they reply very quickly on WhatsApp. We loved our stay, would highly recommend it, and would come back.

Being right by the pier made the location great, with easy access to everything. The first two nights, though, we had a street-facing room that was so noisy I could only fall asleep with noise-cancelling headphones. Once we reported it, the staff didn’t reply until the next day. After night two, we moved to a room at the back. It still wasn’t completely quiet, but it was much better. There’s no on-site contact person, and room cleaning costs extra. I wouldn’t suggest staying here for a long visit. It’s fine for a short stopover, but not ideal for an extended stay.

The room had air-conditioning, free WiFi, and a modern bathroom, and was clean and comfortable. The price was excellent for what you get. It’s a simple place if you’re looking for luxury amenities, but a smart option for exploring Bangkok’s old town, river, and nightlife. The riverside pier is a couple of minutes away on foot, and there’s a lively street of bars and restaurants close by. I’d stay again.

A 7eleven right downstairs and a pier around the corner were the main upsides. But on arrival I was disappointed. The online pictures look much better than the room, especially the bathroom, and the house is old. We expected a higher standard. The check-in idea, with keys hidden in locked books, is cute, but that’s about it. I know it’s cheap, but you can get much more in Bangkok for the same price. We won’t choose this place or area again. Being close to Khao San Road isn’t for us.

I had to contact them myself to get the check-in instructions. You can hear everything in the hallway from the room, and I’d have woken up several times without earplugs. With the blinds open, privacy is barely there because hotel rooms higher up face this room. There was a tiny bit of rice in the bathroom that drew small ants. I cleaned it up myself, and there were no more ants. The body wash button didn’t work, so I had to use shampoo. There was no hand soap, and the faucet was loose. They make do with a small room and building, but the whole experience felt pretty “eh”.
