The staff were helpful even though they weren’t stationed at the front desk, and the price was pretty good. We stayed five nights. The room was okay and fairly spacious, with a clean enough bathroom stocked with towels, soap, and shampoo. There are food stalls, a 7/11, and a bus stop nearby. The cleaning we requested never happened. We left notes asking for it, and they’d told us to put out some kind of flower, but we didn’t receive any. Maybe the notes weren’t seen. I understand it’s a low-cost homestay, but the stairs are very narrow and you have to watch your step. Thank you, Anh Anh Homestay!

Pratunam is a good 13-minute walk away, and the location gives you an interesting look at Bangkok’s alleyways. The hotel sits down a narrow lane that Bolt can’t enter, so you have to walk about a minute from the main road. There’s an old-looking elevator with several warning signs. The receptionist said it was too dangerous for people and only allowed us to use it for our bags. Our room was on the second floor, so we took the stairs, some of the narrowest and steepest I’ve seen. The AC was also a problem: I kept waking up all night either shivering or sweating because I couldn’t control it.

The one good thing is the location, within walking distance of Bangkok’s shopping hub. Everything else was a nightmare, and the place looked nothing like the photos. Our room was filthy and unhygienic when we checked in, and despite repeated complaints, nobody cleaned it. The bed wasn’t even queen-sized, let alone the king shown in the pictures. The staircase was narrow, steep, and felt incredibly unsafe, with no elevator. The caretakers didn’t speak any English and showed no interest in understanding or helping us. They also didn’t check our passports at check-in, which seemed highly suspicious to me and made me think the place might be operating illegally. This was the most unsafe, unhygienic, badly managed place I’ve stayed in. Save yourself the frustration and avoid it.
