The room was shabby and run down, with mold in the bathroom corners, and there’s no elevator. The photos make the property look much nicer than it really is. Still, the bed was very comfortable, the air conditioning was nice, and it was quiet enough for a good night’s sleep. The night staff at the front desk were friendly. We stayed because we’re hardly in the room, though we almost walked out.

The breakfast was a letdown: instant Nescafe, watered-down sweet orange juice, toast with cheap sweet jam and no butter. There were supposed to be three egg options with meat and noodles, but the noodles weren’t available. I asked for a vegetarian meal and was told they could make one, then ordered scrambled eggs. I got two fried eggs instead, with overdone yolks and raw whites that seemed microwaved. After an initial plate of toast and jam, they brought eight more slices with the wrong eggs. The stairs were dirty, too. For one night, this cost more than Novotel and wasn’t remotely worth it. Poor service and a shabby old place, with very basic rooms and a horribly cheap breakfast where staff didn’t listen to the order. We booked a superior deluxe room specifically for the bathtub, paying double the usual price, but were first given a smaller standard room without one. When we went back to reception, staff shuffled papers and spoke in Thai in front of us, not realizing we speak Thai. We heard they hadn’t expected to rent the deluxe rooms that night and had moved someone else into ours. They then said our room’s AC was being fixed and we could have it later. Once we finally got the room, I was looking forward to a bath. We live in chiang mai and don’t have one at home, which is why we paid extra. But the bath was stained and dirty, its cracked plug hole leaked around the ill-fitting plug, and the drain seemed broken, so water ran onto the bathroom floor and the tub wouldn’t fill. The bathroom overall looked dirty and shabby, with nasty white stains on the sofa too. I explained again that we’d paid twice the price because we wanted a room with a bath. The tired-looking receptionist said someone would fix it. That night we were told it had been fixed, but the next morning it was exactly the same. I asked again, and they sent a man who introduced himself as an engineer. He took the plug away, looked at the crack, and said he’d return in a few minutes, but never came back. Reception later said they’d tried to find a better plug and think about the drain, but the engineer couldn’t find a way to fix it. The receptionist smiled sadly and said there was nothing she could do, despite our reminding her we’d paid over 3000b just to get a bathtub. Management felt like thieves. How could they not have known the drain was broken? It didn’t look like a fresh crack. Next door, some hard-core drilling started up. Nothing says “happy new year” like a pneumatic drill against your wall. The hotel also doesn’t meet international standards. There were very basic rooms, poor service, and staff willing to sell you broken rooms and products. With breakfast included, we went downstairs and got low-quality food and a vegetarian order that wasn’t followed.

The room was compact but clean, and the bed was great. The location is handy, with good restaurants, quality shops, and the skytrain all within walking distance.

My stay and the service were horrible. The place was dirty and smelly, and the photos didn’t match reality at all. At checkout they charged me an extra 200 THB, claiming I’d made the sheets dirty. That felt like a silly excuse to scam me. The bed wasn’t dirty, and I’d only slept there for one night without doing anything unusual. I strongly recommend not booking here.
