Aspira Residence Sukhumvit 71 (SHA Plus+)

Siri was especially helpful and patient, which made things much easier for us. We had a really pleasant six-night stay. The room stayed clean, spacious and comfortable the whole time. There’s a nice café by the lobby for a quick coffee or bite. We didn’t get a chance to use the pool or restaurant, though both looked great. I’d definitely recommend this place.

The rooms are large and the bed was very comfortable, while the rooftop terrace and restaurant offer a beautiful view. For its category, the price feels like good value, and the hotel is in good condition. The pool is much smaller than it appears in the pictures, and there are very few sunbeds. They’re all taken early in the morning. The restaurant closes in the afternoon. Internet was very slow, making video calls and streaming difficult. The area is a simple residential part of Bangkok, very dirty and with hardly anywhere to eat or any bars. It can’t be compared with the city centre. Getting there by Uber takes at least 45 minutes and up to 1.5 hours depending on traffic.

Somerset Sukhumvit 71 gave us good value for the money, but its location meant long trips into central Bangkok. From 10-13 February we stayed three nights in a Premier King Room and paid approximately AUD $390. That included 10% off food and drinks, parking, and high-speed internet. Breakfast wasn’t included. The hotel is far from the main tourist hubs near the Chao Phraya River, Siam and CentralWorld. Siam Station is about 8.5 kilometres away, roughly 30 minutes in light traffic, though our rides took close to an hour or more because of traffic. Every kilometre counts here. For nightlife and frequent trips to central attractions, I’d suggest Bang Rak, Lumphini or Ratchathewi, where metro connections are easier. The room was spacious and well designed, with a welcoming lounge and television, a study desk with plenty of charging ports, a very comfortable king-sized bed with more charging points, a full-length mirror, proper luggage space and beautiful wooden flooring. Toiletries and shower amenities were good quality, but the bathroom drainage needs work. Water splashed and spread around instead of draining efficiently. Sol and Luna, the rooftop restaurant on the 15th floor, was the highlight. The setting and sunset views are genuinely impressive, and it has an excellent reputation online. There’s also an outdoor pool on the 15th floor. The hotel shuttle connects with key BTS stations including Thong Lo and Ekkamai, making city access easier. A café on the lower ground floor is convenient and decent. I’d recommend adding breakfast to the booking, since good coffee nearby can be a little difficult to find. Check-in was smooth, and the staff were friendly and professional. At checkout they asked for about five minutes to inspect the room for damage, handling it efficiently and respectfully. The real drawback is the distance and heavy traffic into central Bangkok. If you’re happy to rely on the shuttle and BTS, it’s a solid choice with spacious rooms and good facilities. Otherwise, staying closer to downtown could save a lot of travel time. Would I return? Possibly, but only if I had fewer plans in the city centre.

The restaurants Sol and Luna served amazing food and drinks, with nice music, and the pool area is beautiful. The café is really cute too. My daughter and I had an amazing time over our three-night stay. Staff in every area were AMAZING, special thanks to John for all your help! We’d definitely recommend it.
