Grand Tower Inn Sathorn Bangkok

The name Grand Tower sets expectations the room didn't meet. It was a decent size, but had basic furnishings of mixed styles. I booked on a Sunday and paid 1200 THB. There is covered parking on the first floor.

Getting around is easy from here, with all kinds of transport nearby, a shopping mall close by, convenient taxi access and food delivery. There's a self-service laundry, plus an on-site restaurant you can order from, though I didn't try it. The room itself was clean, but a real letdown. I've stayed in many hotels around Thailand, including Bangkok, and this one stank. The air conditioning clearly hadn't been cleaned in years. Because of that awful smell, at least in the room I was given, I can't recommend the hotel.

There’s a kitchen, but they don’t cook for guests and just order food in. The room showed some wear, and the beds were really hard. It’s about 800 meters from the BTS and 500 meters from somewhere to eat and a 7-Eleven. There’s a kettle but no coffee, and the TV has no English channels. Staff were okay.

I almost never leave reviews, but this place was a complete mess. The corridor already smelled like cigarettes, even though it’s supposed to be a non-smoking hotel. My room was dirty, with hair on the floor, marks on the couch and grimy windows, and the AC was loud. The couple asking reception for a refund while I was checking in should probably have been a warning. I went to ask for my money back after being in the room for only 5-10 minutes, but the staff argued that I’d already used it. I said Booking.com would call about the refund, and when they did, the hotel rejected the call. I went back down and mentioned the email from Booking. They said they’d respond later, but only agreed to the refund after I told them I wasn’t leaving until they did. The place was noisy and smelly, the hygiene was poor, and the staff were rude. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.
