The attitude of one staff member really soured our stay. The older woman wearing an “Assistant Front Office Manager” badge came across as very unpleasant, as if we were imposing by being there. A few other employees were at least somewhat friendly and polite, but we’ve stayed at many good hotels and never been treated this way. We booked two rooms for four people and stayed two nights at I Residence Hotel Silom. Both rooms, the wood-colored ones, smelled bad, and the bathroom sinks were so tiny there was nowhere to put our things. One room didn’t even have a mirror. The rooms looked nothing like the online photos, and the hotel was in poor condition. It’s hard to believe they don’t know what those rooms are like. The sour looks and unfriendly expressions were unnecessary too. We were in a hurry and hadn’t read many reviews before booking, and the misleading photos didn’t help. Some of the hotel’s supposed good features, like breakfast and the pool, weren’t enjoyable because of the other problems. Many reviews mention the same issues, so read them carefully before going. We left feeling so discouraged about returning to Bangkok.

We loved spending the evening by the pool. The pool was nice, and the lit-up skyscrapers looked stunning. Breakfast was another highlight for me, with Thai and European food, fresh fruit, ice cream, and a coffee machine. I also enjoyed watching the city go by near the metro station while eating. Before our trip, I’d read complaints about a moldy smell and worried since we had a small baby with us. I asked the hotel in advance to treat the room with ozone. I don’t know if they did, but our room smelled lovely, with no trace of mold. The air conditioner was quiet too, so I didn’t need earplugs. At some other hotels, the noise has kept me awake. The hotel is a bit dated, but that didn’t matter much for a stay of just a couple of days. The water pressure was excellent and the temperature stayed steady, which mattered a lot with the baby. The shower curtain looked worn and could be replaced. The staff were kind and friendly. They brought coffee and omelets to our table at breakfast, and reception helped us print a couple of documents. Thanks for a wonderful couple of days in our favorite city ❤️

For the price, the breakfast buffet has a good selection, and I enjoyed cooling off at the rooftop pool and terrace after being out in the city. Service was generally friendly and helpful. I did run into a few small hassles, like occasional Wi-Fi trouble and key card issues. The main draw is how easy it is to get around. I Residence Hotel Silom sits right by BTS Chong Nonsi, handy for Silom, Sathorn and the rest of Bangkok. The rooms are simple and comfortable, with air conditioning, Wi-Fi and a flat-screen TV, though some need better upkeep. A good-value base if convenience and facilities matter more to you than luxury finishes.

The staff were very attentive and meticulous at breakfast, constantly wiping surfaces and keeping the dining area clean. The buffet itself was a highlight, with a varied and nutritious selection. For check-in, remember to bring cash since the hotel asks for a deposit. I travel for work often and keep choosing this hotel because the location is so convenient: it’s right on the main street, under the BTS station, and next to a 7-Eleven. The rooms aren’t large, but they have the essentials. Housekeeping could be better, as my floor was a bit dirty and dusty. The TV and Wi-Fi worked reliably enough for what I needed.

The restaurant staff were the one bright spot, they treated me well. The receptionists and doormen, though, were kind of rude. I was meant to stay five nights, but asked to change rooms on the first night. They kept saying the hotel was full and telling me to come back and ask again, and in the end I never got moved. My window faced the parking area, so very little sunlight came in, and there was a creepy mirror aimed straight at the bed. The room was for two, but it only had two pillows. When I asked for two more, I was told I’d have to pay. I got just one key card too, and the power went off whenever I took it with me, so I couldn’t leave my power bank and other things charging. They wanted me to pay for an extra card as well. There was dust left in several spots, plus insects. I saw two cockroaches during my stay, which was disgusting. One night the door lock broke, and I waited almost an hour for an engineer to fix it before I could get back inside.
