Kloem Hostel - Adults Only

This hostel has a welcoming, unusual feel, and it’s the cleanest one I’ve stayed in. Staff were always keeping everything spotless and in order. The décor and common spaces have a great vibe. Noise was a problem for us. The walls are thin, so we could hear activity in the bathrooms and shared areas even from upstairs. We booked expecting an adults-only hostel, and staff confirmed that was the policy. They apologized when a family with a toddler was checked in, saying the family had booked without mentioning the child and they couldn’t refuse the stay immediately. The family remained for several nights, and the child was active in common areas and awake very early, which affected the atmosphere and our sleep. With better soundproofing and stronger enforcement of the adults-only policy, this could be an excellent hostel.

This is a really clean, cute hostel with what you need for a trip. I’m giving it three stars because the booking site says no children, unless they’re 18+ or 8 years old with an adult, but there was a toddler during our stay. The child was loud early in the morning and again late in the evening, and the walls are so thin you can hear shouting from anywhere in the building. A lot of travelers choose places without kids, so that policy matters. Otherwise, it’s an excellent hostel.

It’s a new place with lovely design, and the staff are really kind. There’s a table for working, though it gets pretty hot there, so it might be more pleasant in cooler weather. AC is only in reception and the dorms; fans cool the other areas. The bathrooms and showers are downstairs, and you’ll want mosquito repellent since there are quite a few mosquitoes, perhaps because the place is dark and open. In the dorm, the curtains let through a lot of light, especially onto the top bunk. The door is also very noisy, so people going to the bathroom or arriving late can wake everyone. Earplugs could help.

It’s a beautiful hostel, very clean, with a high standard and some nice features. It’s not a party place, so sleeping well wasn’t a problem. You can hear the train go by now and then, but it didn’t bother me. Great for a group of friends, and I’d come back next time I’m in Bangkok.
