Liberta Hostel

The private rooms are quite small, but the location is perfect, just off Khaosan Road and far enough away to avoid too much noise at night. The hostel is perfectly fine and good value for the price. The South Asian man on the day shift at reception was a gentleman, very helpful and polite. He made the stay even better.

The location is great, the private room is small but fine, the bed isn’t as uncomfortable as some reviews said, and there were no visible signs of roaches or bed bugs. The air conditioner was a plus. For the money, the place is basically fine: a relatively clean room, with shared bathrooms even when you book a private room. But the noise is awful. The room is on the fourth floor at the back of the building, so there’s no street noise, but it’s directly under the bar, which runs from 4pm to midnight. Midnight doesn’t sound too late, but it’s so loud it’s giving me a major headache. I’m lying in bed with earplugs and it still sounds like I’m in the middle of a club. The front desk doesn’t offer earplugs. I booked two nights, but I won’t stay tomorrow night. Be warned that a lot of the five-star reviews are from people who only visit the bar and don’t stay at the hostel. I wish I’d read the reviews more closely before booking. I wouldn’t have stayed here.

I felt very comfortable here. The rooms are basic, but have what you need, and the mattresses are comfortable, not hard as wood. Staff do their best to be helpful and accommodating. Great price and location, and the rooftop bar is excellent. I made some friends and had a good night.

The staff are lovely and the location is great, but as a budget traveller couple we had an awful stay. I wouldn’t recommend the private room. There was no window, and pipes ran through the room. Any time someone used the toilet or sink outside the room, the pipes made a very loud noise. Even other guests going up and down the stairs were loud. We barely slept during our stay. One of the worst places we’ve stayed in all of Southeast Asia.
