The new gym made a big impression on me. It has state of the art equipment, plus a shower area, sauna, steam room, ice plunge pool, and so much attention to detail. Andreas and the gym team were friendly, attentive, and helpful as always. I also came away from my spa treatment feeling on top of the world, and the warm service was there from arrival to departure. I'd been away for two years after being a regular for quite a while, and coming back felt like returning to my own little world, dipped in Champagne. The MO keeps making updates that benefit guests. Every staff interaction was positive, caring, and kind. The pool team were wonderful, and I met all three Ambassadors, long serving employees who have retired but still have a place at the hotel's heart and look after guests as they always have. For me, this is the number one hotel in the world, faultless in all the small details. It's always been my favourite, and I’m deeply grateful to everyone who works so hard to make each stay wonderful. Thank you, Simon 🙏

I found the hotel itself beautiful, from its well-kept gardens and riverside setting to the inviting shared spaces. The pool had plenty of room to lounge, and there were excellent dining options on site. My room was peaceful when I returned in the evenings. It was spacious and elegant, with classic luxury alongside modern comforts, a very comfortable bed, quality linens, a large bathtub, separate shower, and river view. From the moment I arrived, the staff were warm and attentive, and every part of the hotel felt thoughtfully cared for. I had a fantastic stay and would happily return or recommend it to someone visiting Bangkok.

The river looks cinematic, the orchids seem arranged to impossible precision, and the staff glide by like they're part of the production. Even as a visitor, I felt 37% more refined just standing near the marble columns. The place has all the history you’d expect, plus perfectly calibrated air-conditioning. I dropped by Mandarin Oriental Bangkok to have a look and felt as if I'd wandered onto the set of a lavish play about elegance. With Tennessee Williams in the hotel's literary circle, I half expected a dramatic breeze in the Authors’ Lounge and someone whispering about destiny while clutching pearls. Four stars because after one graceful lap around the property, my bank account advised me to admire from a polite distance. No one gave me a script or invited me to deliver a passionate monologue over the Chao Phraya, either. Still, if you want a taste of literary legend and timeless luxury, even just for a visit, it delivers drama and charm, and might leave you wanting to write something meaningful, or at least expensive.

The people made our first visit stand out. They didn't know my preferences as a returning guest, but every interaction was warm, genuine, and prompt. Their kindness is what sets the hotel apart. We'd planned a simple staycation and ended up having one of our most memorable, luxurious experiences. The atmosphere feels historic, lively, and serene all at once, and waking up to the spectacular river panorama made our room feel like an escape. The spa was deeply relaxing and felt like a five-star experience. The gym was very well equipped too, so I could keep up my routine while on vacation.
