Hotel Mermaid Bangkok

The pool was a great break from the Bangkok heat, and the AC worked well. I was looking for comfortable beds, a good bathroom and shower, a nice pool and a convenient location, and this place had all of that. The staff were amazing too. The room was a good size, with a deck, a small seating area, a mini-fridge and a coffee bar. The bed was really comfortable. The bathroom was excellent, with a rain shower as well as a handheld one, and a nice toilet with a bidet hose. It's right in the middle of everything, about a two-minute walk from the main vein in Sukhumvit where all the action is. I'd definitely come back next time, and would recommend it to anyone looking for comfort and the busy Bangkok life.

I liked the hotel and the staff were very nice. But I'm still waiting for my THB 1000 deposit to be returned. I didn't have cash at check-in, so they charged it to my credit card. They said it would be refunded within two weeks, but I haven't received it.

We needed somewhere at short notice after booking the wrong dates at another hotel, and Mermaid Hotel was happy to accommodate us. The room was spacious, the bed was very comfortable, and the stay was great. The furniture was definitely dated, but it didn't affect us since the room had everything we needed. We thought the rate was a little expensive, though it seemed fair for a last-minute booking and the convenient location near Asoke. There was parking, although there weren't many spaces. It seems Mermaid Hotel guests can also park through its partnership with Novotel. Recommended!

You have to pay extra for a quiet night's sleep here. There was an outdoor AC unit directly behind the window in our room, right at head level. It rattled, vibrated and made so much noise that it felt like sleeping beside a construction site. Earplugs didn't help. Reception said every room is like that and we'd need to upgrade for silence. The photos don't match what we found. The rooms are worn, there's mold in the bathroom, and the carpets look overdue for replacement. The shampoo and gel smelled nice, and breakfast was excellent, though it was served at a different hotel.
