The One Residence Hotel

The room was quiet, elegant, and roomy enough to help me unwind and forget for a bit that I was far from home in a busy city. There’s plenty of parking, so accessible parking didn’t seem necessary during my stay, though that could change quickly depending on the season and tourist buses. It’s a pricey night, but compared with other places in the area in the same price range, I think the rating is deserved.

For the price, the room was good, spacious and clean, though there was no bathtub or free minibar beyond drinking water. The staff were supportive. Breakfast was poor, and internet was a real problem, with weak signal and slow speeds most of the time. Fine for a vacation, but I wouldn’t choose this place for a business trip. There’s no laundry service either, so it’s not suitable for business travel.

It’s about 30 minutes from Swarnabhumi, set roughly 100m off the main road inside the compound, so it was quiet and had plenty of free parking. My room was clean, had a small kitchen with a kettle, and the wifi worked well. Staff were quite nice, and you can request an iron. I was alone on the ground floor and didn’t feel completely safe. I didn’t see CCTV, just a couple of older guards. There’s no room service if you’re tired or it’s raining, and the buildings aren’t connected, so rain makes it awkward to get to the registration desk or breakfast building. Breakfast was simple: bread, scrambled eggs, porridge, a couple of noodle dishes and some fruit. The nearest shop is the PTT petrol station by the entrance, about a five-minute walk. Paradise, Central and Secon malls are around 40-50 baht by taxi; other places, including trains, are reachable by taxi too. Some taxi drivers couldn’t find the place, though Grab had no trouble. Buses pick people up here every day, so it seems to be a transit stop for onward travel around Thailand. Affordable and clean for a short stay, but not ideal for longer.

Nice place, but the dog friendly claim doesn’t really hold up. I paid an extra 500 baht per night to bring my dogs. They peed on the floor, and we used towels to clean it. Towels can be bleached, and I’m sure they’ve seen much worse from humans, but we were still charged for ruining them. That didn’t feel fair. If you’re choosing this place because it says dog friendly, don’t.
