For a couple of days of training when I’m out most of the time, this place works well. The rooms are clean and the bed is comfortable, which is all I need. It’s an older hotel, dating back to the 60s, I believe, but it’s kept its charm. It offers select service and is in a great location. There’s a restaurant on the first and ground floors, with lots of menu choices that are local favorites. I mostly used the BTS since it’s closer. Take exit 1, turn right when you reach street level from the overhead bridge, then walk along the side road by the Mahanakhon building. That route is wider and more pleasant, though the other pedestrian path works too and is usually busier. I’d stay here again when I’m back in this part of the city.

I won’t stay here again. Bringing an unregistered guest to a room comes with a 1000 baht fine, though that wasn’t even my main issue. Sharing a room is awkward when there’s only one keycard, especially since they take a 300 baht deposit for it. You need the card to get through a security door before the elevator, so if my friend came back while I was upstairs, I had to go down to the lobby to let him in. A woman sits by the elevators during the day, but she still wouldn’t let him in, even though she’d seen him leave earlier. After 10pm there’s nobody at reception or in the lobby, so if you lose the key, you’re locked out with no help. The shower temperature kept swinging between hot and cold. The balcony door was always slightly ajar, letting in heat and a lot of noise. The free Wi-Fi also blocks adult content. This hotel isn’t guest friendly.

You can book a short stay here, 200 baht for three hours. The room has mirrors on the ceiling and around the walls, which I liked.

The room was pretty ordinary, but they could provide things I asked for, like a hair dryer. I left my laptop behind after checking out. A few minutes later, when I realized and went back to ask, the staff searched for it and returned it to me. I’m very glad they took care of that even after checkout. Thank you so much 😊

I picked up pubic lice from dirty bedsheets there 35 years ago. Hope housekeeping has improved since then. :)
