The price is hard to beat, and there’s no deposit. I first checked whether I could find a better option, then asked the owner if she’d lower the rate for my two-week stay. She agreed, so I didn’t have to pay for a whole month. I’d been looking for somewhere to rent long-term, around 45 days, with day-to-day rental possible later around Phra Khanong or Onnut. I asked a friend to call in Thai, and couldn’t find anything until I came across Nine Place 40. I’ve known Rama 4 and Ekkamai BTS station for a long time, so I chose to rent here. That turned out to be the right decision. I arrived around 4 am, but we worked out how I could pick up the keycard. The room was clean enough, had a huge window, and the bed was neatly made for a well-deserved sleep. Everything worked. It’s quiet, on a small cul-de-sac, about a 12-minute walk from BTS Ekkamai. Lotus and Big C are a few bus stops away, and there’s bus access to the highway. There are good restaurants and great street food nearby. There are coin-operated washing machines, a drinking water station, and space to hang washed clothes. Similar places don’t have anywhere to hang laundry. Coffee, a rice cooker, and a microwave are free to use. I met the owner several times, and she made me tasty tea as well as giving me coffee. She was always helpful when I had questions. If you’re on a tight budget and want a quiet place in Bangkok near the BTS and subway, I recommend it.

I’ve lived at Nine Place for long stays over many years, and the staff have been here a long time too. They work hard and are willing to help, and they do my laundry and clean my room thoroughly. For the modest amount I pay them, that’s worth it, and I feel my things are safe with them. They don’t speak English, but gestures and Google translate work fine. The big plus for me is that the hotel is quiet and safe. It’s on a small soi among many Thai residents, so there are always “eyes on the street” and no noisy tourists playing loud music. Khlong Toei also seems to be developing. There’s a Thai food hall across the street and a newer PTT shopping center a block away with more upscale food, an IT store, pharmacy, gas, and other things. Sukhumvit is a five-minute ride by Grab or motorcycle. The amenities are all okay: air conditioning, WiFi, hot water, mattress, power sockets, and good locks. You won’t get a mint on your pillow, but you aren’t paying five-star prices either. If you’re a foreigner looking for a safe, quiet long-stay base in a good location at a great price, Nine Place is hard to beat. P.S. I’m obviously not a Google fan, but I wanted to help the hotel.

The service was okay, but the room was less than okay. It’s a budget hotel, and if you don’t book online, they only offer a 12-hour stay. The hotel is also far from BTS stations and sits in a residential neighborhood. Overall, it was just okay, and I’d suggest not staying here.

For Sukhumvit, the price was very affordable. I paid 700 baht for one night, though booking online beforehand is advisable if you want to pay less. The place could use some improvement in hygiene.

A grubby place that seriously needs cleaning and a paint job. There were mattresses in the corridors, no windows, a noisy toilet, and the area wasn’t great. The hot water and air conditioning worked well, and the mattress was good.
