Petra Poshtel Donmuang

I was in the family room on the fourth floor, apparently the only room with a television. There’s no elevator, but the stairs aren’t steep, and since I had no luggage that was fine. The hotel is very clean. Bring your own toothbrush and toothpaste. The shower area isn’t partitioned, but it’s long enough and set apart from the toilet, so there’s no need to worry about getting the toilet wet. In the morning there’s complimentary toast, a banana, and sachet coffee for a quick breakfast. The cafe also makes really good coffee. I ordered orange coffee for THB 63, including the 10% in-house discount. My flight was delayed and I didn’t arrive until around 1 a.m., but the staff waited for me. It’s an easy ten minute walk from DMK international arrivals over the footbridge between gates 5 and 6, marked Amari hotel. Walking at midnight was no problem. I’ve included a snapshot with directions on how to get there. I’ll definitely stay again when I need an overnight stop at DMK.

I had to take a picture of my key and send it to the hotel just to stop the calls. First, I got a call asking what key I had, then they called a second time to ask if I’d 'GRABBED' a key for another room. I explained that I hadn’t taken anything, and that I only had the key they’d given me. She mumbled that she didn’t know where the other key had gone, which had nothing to do with me. Then at 7am someone tried to enter my room with a key. Luckily I’d put the chain on the door, so they couldn’t get in. The room looked lovely and the service had seemed nice at first.

The pictures are accurate. It’s a ten minute walk from the Arrival hall, and the place is clean, with white sheets, white walls, and acacia wood flooring. I stayed at their other property, Petra Boutique Donmuang, which is off the main road and has no traffic noise. Very nice.

Getting to DMK is an easy walk, passing a local market, plenty of street stalls, and a 7-11. I stayed one night in the only room on the top floor. There was a bit of street noise, but nothing that really disturbed my sleep. The room was spotless, furnished with IKEA pieces, and everything worked as expected. Good water pressure in the bathroom too. The only downside I can think of is no elevator, so anyone with bulky luggage might prefer a lower floor. I’d like to try the cafe, but it opens rather “late,” at 9am 😉
