Good security, kind staff, and a nice apartment with lots of greenery and birds around. Khaosan rd is within walking distance.

Travelers and students, this place probably isn’t for you. There’s no internet connection, or really only about 10 minutes a day when you can get online.

So far, so good.

When I first moved in, it felt peaceful and removed from the community, with lots of trees and a relaxing seating area out front. People would read, work or practice guitar there. The housekeeper did a great job, and broken things in the room could be replaced for free by telling the maintenance worker. The walls and doors are very thin, though. You can hear inconsiderate neighbors, including noise from arguments or sexual activity. The landlord was strict about this at first, so it wasn’t too bad, but the soundproofing needs improvement. That cost the place one star. The other two stars are because of a group of young foreign residents who moved in later. They started smoking in the front seating area, leaving a strong, foul smell that the housekeeper complained about. They put ashtrays on the table and gathered there, leaving cigarette butts and suspicious looking bottles around. E-cigarette liquid bottles were left lying about too. The group has effectively taken over a shared relaxation space, and people who don’t smoke have stopped using it. Signs have been put up, but they haven’t stopped it. Photos show ashtrays and other things left out overnight and still there in the morning. At night, after the housekeepers and caretakers leave, cigarette smoke has become noticeable in the hallway. Only the security guard is around, and he usually sleeps there. The smell hasn’t reached my room, but it’s made the living environment much worse. There’s also frequent noise from that group, especially for me because my room shares a wall with theirs at the far end. They talk a lot and sometimes bring noisy outsiders. The loudest issue is cooking noise, often pounding or crushing something. The cooking smell isn’t too bothersome since their room is at the end. They also play music on a phone and sing along. It’s not extremely loud, but it’s persistently irritating, almost every day, sometimes once an hour or for several hours. The worst is hearing it from noon until evening. Other rooms don’t share that wall, so they may not hear what I do. I reported it to the building manager, but nothing serious was done, and the group has now been there for several months. There’s also frequent hallway noise from other first-floor rooms at night, though it doesn’t seem to disturb the rooms. It still shows how much the building’s quiet has declined. Management hasn’t been decisive about these problems. If the owner sees this, they need to act and address the group’s behavior. If they keep causing trouble, there’s no need to keep renting to them when many people want a peaceful place. Moving the person who reports the problem to another room won’t solve it; the issue will still be there. That’s why I took off the remaining two stars.
