Easy Planet Bangkok Asoke

Just a short walk from BTS Asoke and Terminal 21, this is a budget hotel I’d recommend and return to. The room was clean, all the fixtures worked, and the A/C ran cold and quietly. It was a tight fit even for one person, though, with no place to store luggage.

It was the quietest hotel I’ve stayed at in Bangkok so far. We were between two busy roads, but heard no traffic or other noise, except when neighbors talked loudly in the corridor. BTS Asoke was easy to reach, with the lift only a few steps away, and Terminal 21 mall directly opposite. A small mall about five minutes’ walk to the left has a well-stocked 7-11 and a decent Thai massage place. The front desk was helpful, and I got a late housekeeping service after requesting it. There’s also a backalley shortcut to Benchakitti Park just down the road. The basic room was clean and looked out onto the backs of other buildings. Water pressure and temperature were perfect. There were no USB wall sockets, and things like toothbrushes have to be purchased. The soap was just hand soap and a “head to toe” wash. There’s a water dispenser in the lobby for refilling your own bottle, or you can buy chilled water for 15 baht. I didn’t sleep very well because the air in the room felt too dry. Muslim guests may want to check the room layout, as some rooms might not have enough space to perform prayers. Apparently the hotel was previously called “Red Planet,” which might explain why it has so few reviews.

The location is handy, very close to both the Skytrain and metro. My room was on the small side, but clean and quiet at night, with a comfortable bed, working air conditioning, and hot water. A good budget hotel that I’d recommend.

The room was plain, but it did what I needed since I wasn’t there for a romantic trip or anniversary. I was especially surprised by how spotless the toilet was. It’s in a quiet neighborhood and makes a useful base for shopping.
