Bed Bangkok Hostel

The lack of an elevator was a pain with my heavy suitcase, and this is a pretty mellow place, not somewhere for nightly partying. But I wanted a quiet retreat, and On The Bed Hostel suited me really well. It’s on a calm side street in Sukhumvit, so after my long flight I could feel Bangkok’s hectic pace fade as soon as I came in. I stayed in a pod bed, and the thick curtains gave me a private little space where I felt safe. The bed was very comfortable, and the clean, modern white decor still felt warm rather than sterile. At night, the city sounds were muffled from inside the pod. The staff made the stay feel personal. They were kind and seemed happy to help, whether I needed directions for the nearby Skytrain or a tip for a tucked-away street food stall that wasn't on the tourist maps. As a solo traveler, I felt less alone because of them.

I was there for 5 days and 4 nights, and was really satisfied with everything, from the room and bathroom to the service. No deposit was needed, and the staff were so friendly. I'd definitely return.

I still haven't received the ฿562 refund, even though I never used the room I originally booked. I paid that amount, then another 300 to rebook a private room. The owner should take this seriously. In the response to my review, they blamed me instead of fixing the problem, which only reinforces my view of the service. I wouldn't recommend spending money here, and people can read the other reviews and judge for themselves. This started around 10:30 PM yesterday, when I tried to book a room. There was no staff at the entrance, so I called the number on the business profile. The person who answered said the hostel was open and told me to press the doorbell, though I could see nobody inside. A woman was there, but she was very rude. First she quoted a room price of about 850, then said I could book through Agoda. Once I'd paid and made the booking, she told me it was for a shared room, not a private one. I asked if I could cancel and book a private room instead. She said I could cancel, but wouldn't get a refund, and then said she couldn't help me. Her attitude made it seem like she didn't care. I was polite throughout, but felt I was treated very poorly. I think the owner should refund the ฿562 since I got nothing from that booking.

The caretaker girl was really good, and the place was very clean. I liked the free breakfast, with coffee and tea, and the bed itself was clean. Still, I found bedbugs in my room, so they should treat it with medicine.
