S Ratchada Leisure Hotel

For 2,100 baht, the room itself was clean and in decent condition. The location is also a drawback, with little of use within walking distance. The bigger problem was the night desk: they couldn't find our booking, and after arriving late we spent around two hours, possibly more, waiting for them to sort it out. They didn't seem sorry or offer anything for the time we lost. We were told our receipt would be ready in a few hours, but we had work in the morning and finally went to bed at about 2 a.m.

I've returned to this hotel three times during my trips. Mr Somsak is especially helpful and is always ready to take us to Rama9. He stays positive and gives excellent service. The rest of the staff are friendly and helpful too, and the rooms have always been very clean.

After a week at the Melía Hotel in Bangkok and five days in Phuket, we came back to Bangkok for our final night. We chose somewhere different for a new experience, and the internet listed it as a five-star hotel. What a disappointment. The bathroom smelled, the toilet hadn't been disinfected, and the shower was covered in mould. The floor was dirty and the towels were old and actually torn 🥹. It was obvious the room hadn't been cleaned before we arrived. I really can't recommend staying there 😨.

I made a booking for the wrong day by accident, and spotted the error within a minute of getting the confirmation. They still wouldn't change the date or remove the cancellation fee so I could book the correct day. The management was rigid and unwilling to help with a tourist's request. In my experience, no other country has treated me this way. They seem to turn every chance into a way to earn more, so I wouldn't call this a tourist-friendly hotel. Avoid it.
