Shama Petchburi 47 Bangkok

We spent four weeks in the corner one bedroom apartment on the 7th floor. It was spacious, attractive, clean and well furnished, with lots of storage for our belongings and luggage. The bathroom had a big vanity with room for toiletries, a bathtub, and a separate shower with good pressure and plenty of hot water. Service from the hotel staff was top-notch and accommodating. They provided daily cleaning and drinking water, and when we ran low, the front desk delivered more bottles within minutes. There was also a lovely shaded courtyard with seating and a water feature, a peaceful spot to relax. The combo washer/dryer’s dryer function didn’t work, but staff quickly brought a drying rack and extra hangers. We like cooking for ourselves, so a few kitchen basics would have helped: salt, pepper and olive oil, measuring cups and spoons, sissors for opening packages, and containers for leftovers. At the nearby restaurant Buttercup, prices were high by Thai standards, but the food was fresh, well prepared and delicious. Less than a block away, Bangkok Hospital has a food court that closes at 6 pm. It includes Jones Salad for excellent salads, Au Bon Pain Bread, Starbucks, Burger King, Dunkin Donuts, a couple of Thai sit-down restaurants, a bakery, a fresh fruit shop, several coffee shops and a Seven 11. There are also two grocery stores within a 15 minute walk, in opposite directions. For anyone coming to Bangkok for treatment at Bangkok Hospital, it would be hard to find a more comfortable or convenient base. The hospital is a four minute walk away, and it offers quick, easy, free shuttle rides in golf-cart style vehicles for people who’d rather not walk. There’s a Holiday Inn Express across the street that may cost less, but I believe it only has typical hotel rooms, not apartments. Sightseeing is another matter. The BTS line runs very near Shama, but the closest station is more than a 30 minute walk along pedestrian-unfriendly streets, so this isn’t an ideal location for tourists.

The hotel is especially convenient for a Bangkok medical visit, with Bangkok Hospital just a few steps away and Arabic and Indian restaurants, spas, massage centers, and other useful services nearby. Shama Hotels also stands out for its cleanliness, organization, and care for guests. The rooms are lovely and luxurious, too.

Roman. The staff were excellent and very helpful, and Dr. Rachawich explained my gastro-colonoscopy clearly and advised me on treatment when I came in today.

A spacious, comfortable room and a relaxed, pleasant atmosphere made this a stay I really enjoyed. Everything was convenient, and I'd happily come back.
