Siam Mandarina Hotel

We only had one night between flights at Bangkok airport, so we didn’t get to try the pool or spa, which was a shame. The shuttle was much appreciated, and there’s a ground-floor cafe with excellent coffee. Breakfast was a reasonably priced buffet with good choices, and they were great with our kids. The hotel has a grand lobby, a great restaurant, friendly staff, and a very comfortable bed. I had my best sleep in weeks. It’s the best hotel of our travels so far, and I wish I could bring it to our next stop.

The staff were friendly, attentive, and spoke excellent English. The gym had plenty of equipment, the bathroom was well stocked with strong shower pressure, and the safe was easy to use. Beds were quite hard, but the pillows were very soft and comfortable. It’s a nice hotel about 30 minutes outside the city centre. We stayed one night on a quick layover, and the free airport shuttle was easy to book and use. It runs all day and took about 35 minutes. We sat outside at the bar and watched the world go by. The Chang beer was great, and the crispy chips came with mayo and ketchup. The pepperoni pizza was well cooked in a firewood oven, with a thin, crispy base. The truffle and mushroom pizza was good too, with huge truffle slices and gooey cheese. We had four jugs of Chang, two pizzas, and some chips for £85, which was expensive. I’d recommend the hotel, but would walk down the road for food and drinks.

We chose this hotel because it was near the airport, offered a free shuttle, and had decent looking reviews. The hotel felt very dated and in need of restoration. The shuttle was the worst part. Around 50 people were waiting, and the small buses crammed everyone in like a pack of dogs. We had to sit on top of each other, with the driver piling five suitcases on and around us. I couldn’t believe it. A taxi was available for £5, so the shuttle didn’t feel like much of a perk. The driver also drove like a complete nutter. I wish we’d chosen the Hilton for a better last night of our holiday. I’d honestly pay £20 more for a better hotel on booking.com.

I needed to arrange a quick stay near Suvarnabhumi Airport for a guest transiting through Bangkok, and had contacted several hotels. Many were slow to reply, and some didn’t really understand what I needed. Siam Mandarina Hotel got back to me quickly, and Max helped organize everything. I first booked one night, then needed an earlier check-in and check-out. Later, my guest’s flight changed, so I had to adjust the booking again. Max stayed patient, calm, and responsive through all of it. He never seemed frustrated, and handled the changes professionally. I was under pressure to get things sorted for my guest and didn’t mean to make it difficult, so his support meant a lot. Max has a great attitude, and service like that makes a real difference. I appreciate the help and would choose the hotel again if I return to Bangkok or need to arrange stays for guests. Thank you, Max.
