Silom Serene, a Boutique Hotel

The rooms are big, the beds comfortable, and the air conditioning works well and is adjustable. Housekeeping was meticulous and respectful, though our laundry took an unusually long three days to come back. Security seemed fair, but the elevator doesn’t require a card. Staff made up for some of the rough edges with cheerful greetings and good spoken English. The swimming pool is barely more than a splash pool, while the fitness room was adequate. I wasn’t keen on breakfast because I wanted more Western food, though I know that’s a minority view. The hotel seems to draw elderly budget travelers. The building looks worn, with scuffed paint everywhere and tired carpets. It was never especially grand, so “faded glory” doesn’t quite fit. Silom Serene is just off the main road, but the side street is perilous and has no proper sidewalk. All things considered, I’d probably stay again.

We really enjoyed our one-bedroom suite. It was quiet at night, very clean, and spacious, and we liked having the shower and bath in separate areas. Watch your step in the shower room, though, as the tiles get very slippery. Staff were friendly and helpful. The location is excellent, near a daytime food market and shopping alley, with plenty of places to eat, plus a bakery and bar. Sala Daeng BTS and Si Lom MRT are within walking distance. The steak at the on-site restaurant was great for the price.

We stayed for three nights and found the staff very friendly and helpful. The place was clean and comfortable, and I’d highly recommend it. Food stalls are right outside, with lots of other food options around. Lumpini Park is nearby, and there’s a night market about a ten-minute walk away. Chong Nonsi BTS is around 350m away, and Sala Daeng station is about 550m.

The location is very good, but I’m not sure this place suits a holiday or a comfortable business trip. It’s an old four-star hotel, and the rooms and amenities are generally quite old. More of a local hotel, I’d say, and definitely not for everyone. In my opinion, 50-70 euros a room is quite expensive for the quality and compared with other options in the city.
